(More customer reviews)This DVD set compiles all 24 episodes from the hilarious second season of this 90s classic. While season 1 centered around Will trying to bring some levity and street wise knowledge to his snobbish relatives, season 2 shows Will blending in with his new family and forming a more cohesive unit. This season also marked a lot of changes for the show including a brand new more spacious house set, new additions to the supporting cast such as Will's mom and Will's new best friend Tyriq (my personal favorite), the broadening of unique character traits for each family member that would become their trademarks, and the first time the show was ranked in the top 20. Here are the episodes that make up this memorable season;
1. DID THE EARTH MOVE FOR YOU?- Will and his new girlfriend are trapped together during an earthquake.
2. THE MOTHER OF ALL BATTLES- Will and Carlton try to help Ashley with a bully problem.
3. WILL GETS A JOB- Will juggles school and a new job in order to pay for a homecoming party.
4. PSAT PSTORY- Will confident while preparing for college aptitude tests while Carlton is a mess.
5. GRANNY GETS BUSY- Philip can't bear to think of his widow mother having a new man in her life.
6. GUESS WHO'S COMING TO MARRY?- Will's mom forbids Will to attend the interracial marriage of Aunt Janice.
7. THE BIG FOUR-OH- Vivian's 40th birthday marks a crisis as she is determined to perfect her dance skills.
8. SHE AIN'T HEAVY- Will likes the full-figured Dee Dee (Queen Latifah) but doesn't want to ask to the dance.
9. CASED UP- A pompous lawyer (Malcom Jamal Warner) who's dating Hilary sues Will after a car accident.
10. HI-HO SILVER- Will and Carlton think a party guest (Zsa Zsa Gabor) stole their silverware.
11. THE BUTLER DID IT- Carlton rents the house to Bell Biv DeVoe for a video shoot while his parents are away.
12. SOMETHING FOR NOTHING- After winning money at a fundraiser, Will is reluctant to donate it to charity.
13. CHRISTMAS SHOW- The family must come up with heartfelt Christmas gifts after they are robbed.
14. HILARY GETS A LIFE- Hilary must work for a caterer after her credit cards are canceled.
15. MY BROTHER'S KEEPER- Winning at basketball isn't as important to Will as it is to his opponent from Malibu Prep.
16. GEOFFREY CLEANS UP- Geoffrey falls for a neighbor he believes is a housekeeper but who turns out to be rich.
17. COMMUNITY ACTION- Hillary develops a crush on a doctor after being ordered to do community service.
18. ILL WILL- The family fears Geoffrey's memoirs while Will fears having his tonsils removed.
19. EYES ON THE PRIZE- Needing a game show partner, Will must choose between bickering friends Jazz and Tyriq.
20. THOSE WERE THE DAYS- A '60s radical wanted by the FBI influences Will and Carlton to protest a teacher's firing.
21. VYING FOR ATTENTION- Will dislikes his mother's new boyfriend.
22. THE AUNT WHO CAME TO DINNER- Aunt Helen unexpected arrival disrupts Will and Carlton's plans with two women.
23. BE MY BABY TONIGHT- The family fawns over Ashley's new boyfriend but Will chokes when she asks him about sex.
24. STRIP TEASE FOR TWO- Will and Carlton become strippers to regain Vivian's bracelet after getting a bad stock tip.
Extras include cast bloopers and a featurette called 'Best Bits of Bel-Air', with montages, trivia and pop-ups. It is disappointing that Will Smith seems intent on distancing himself from this show now that he has become a big Hollywood star. It would be refreshing to see updated interviews or even an audio commentary or two from the star of the show. In closing, despite the lack of bonus content, this is still arguably the most memorable season from a truly 'fresh' TV show.

Will Smith stars as a teenager from inner city Philadelphia who's sent to California to live with his wealthy relatives in the hopes that they will "straighten him out and teach him some good old-fashioned values. On Season 2, Bel-Air is starting to feel like the hood for Will. His Philly roots run deep, but even a street-smart rapper can wrap his mind around croissants and credit cards and his arms around upscale hotties. Guest stars include Queen Latifah, Milton Berle and Zsa Zsa Gabor.

Dark Shadows DVD Collection 3 (1966) Review

(More customer reviews)I have Dark Shadows volume 1 & 2, went through a period of time for awhile when I was trying to tape them off the Sci-Fi Network but these dvds are the answer to a prayer - I canNOT wait for collection #3, and in all sincerity I am glad they are spacing them apart as they are - easier to afford each one as it's released, as I buy a LOT of dvds as it is!!
The amazing thing about "DS" is that it is so addictive; no matter your opinion on soap operas, or horror yarns, there is NOTHING like "Dark Shadows" to keep you enthralled and always waiting for the next chapter - I know some have complained that the quality of the dvds isn't prime, but to me the fact that each show looks as it did when it was on television adds to the sense of nostalgia and creepiness the show had for me as a child - but with the everlasting dvd quality! I applaud MPI and their WISE decision to bring us the best of all soaps in dvd form! My only "negative" is, I hope that, when done, MPI will go back and release the individual first 200 episodes, as well.
Oh, and to the person complaining that they're only putting on two months per set - Good Lord, we are talking 40 episodes each, about 14 HOURS per set!! As someone with a busy schedule and tons of dvds and tapes, that's plenty for me between sets - and the only way to keep the cost per set even as low as it is!

Bewitched - The Complete Second Season (1964) Review

(More customer reviews)Never before seen in color, Season 2 has been colorfied with the power of computer technology. Season 1 looked fantastic. Season 2 looks a bit artificial on some of the episodes, but they look about as good as they did for Season 1 and considering they had to color a massive 38 episodes, that's quite a feat and I really have nothing to gripe about. A few of the episodes are basic flashbacks from Season 1, which is a bit annoying because they are just recordings from the previous season. Sure there are only a few, but why do episodes that were in the previous season? Very odd. Anyway...They are getting very close to really getting those skin tones right, and to the naked eye, most won't know these are artifical colors for the new color addition.
Season 2 contains a whopping 38 wonderful episodes in all, one gigantic Season for true fans that want to enjoy some serious bewitching entertainment. As fans know, these timeless episodes have easily withstood the test of time, even here in 2005 I'm loving it all. Season 2 still includes the very funny antics of Alice Pearce and George Tobias (Kravitz's)as they reprise their roles as the nosy neighbors across the street. Alice Pearce is a wonderful actress as her nosy-self just makes the series all that more enjoyable. Her relationship with her husband reminds me of the "Roepers" from Three's Company, the crazy one liners from the two will draw chuckles every time!
Unfortunately you'll only be able to enjoy her throughout season 2 as she (sadly) does not return for Season 3 and is replaced by a lesser known, so enjoy the very best Mrs. Kravitz now! Alice Pearce (Mrs. Kravitz) developed cancer in the middle of Season 2 and ask you can see by watching, her weight and health deteriorated. She is missing for most of the second 1/2 of the season and they actually saved an earlier episode with her in it to save it for the last one. I for one believe Bewitched would never have been as successful without her in it.
Season 2 also really shines as Marion Lorne (Aunt Clara) is throughout this season and she is wonderful. I would have loved to have an Aunt as sweet and funny as her. Sadly, more tragedy. In the real world, Lorne suffered a massive heart attack during Season 2 and explains her absence the second half of the season. Dick York, the most famous Darrin of them all also suffered "unbeknownst to many" through his life as Darrin. He suffered from a constant back ailment and it slowly progressed to the point where he simply could not continue his role. York recalls his feelings every day as Darrin. " "I took pain pills to get to sleep because I didn't want to go to work the next day exhausted." York suffered, and suffered, but fans know he never let anyone know, he fought the pain and made everyone laugh, and that's why he's so special, he just wanted to make people laugh. York finally succombed to lung cancer and passed away in 1992. Sam (Montgomery) life was also cut short due to "colon cancer" and she died at a very youthful 62 years old. Just a little tidbit note, Montgomery was also a very "avid smoker" and was noted as smoking during breaks of the show and was difficult for her not lightup during filming when everyone else on the show usually did. Ok, enough sad stories!
Lookout for Endora and Darrin really battling it out in this grand season. The episode where she turns him into a warewolf on Halloween is priceless entertainment. And I never stop laughing as she still continues to never remember his name...Darwood, Darwin, Darewood, Damian, David, just simply hilarious. And don't worry about Dick York (the favorite Darrin of them all)leaving the series anytime soon, even with his rotten back, he will be around for several more DVD packs, specifically Season 5 and then eventually replaced by Dick Sargeant for Season's 6-8. The big news early in this season is that Sam is going to have a baby! Think she'll be a witch? Do you know what episode Tabitha is born in? If you're fan, you already know the answer!
