Def Comedy Jam All-Stars Vol. 2 Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I initially bought this DVD because of Martin Lawrence. Ive seen alot of his films and thought they were funny. But i still thought him and will smith could not be the only black american comedians america has because in england all we have on terrestial TV(of black american comedy) are old re-runs of The Fresh Bel Air. So i purchased it wanting to discover more.In England we only have white comedy shows and although some of them are funny, I can not relate fully to them because of the cultural barrier between white english people and second generation african english culture.
In this DVD there are 3 shows:
One hosted by Martin Lawrence, the second by Chris Rock and the third Cedric the entertainer.
The first show is so funny all the comedians had me cracking up, and Bernie Mac had me in stitches.I would buy a DVD with just this show on it.
The second was OK but mostly due to the host Chris Rock. As the host he should get the audience fired up in anticpation. But he came and gave a below par performance. It was like he had not prepared for the show like he had just been drafted in at the last minute and did not want to be there. The comedians in this show were all different but i would have to say Dominique was the worst. Her set did not flow and had no relevance. I did not laugh once in fact i had to fast forward her a few times so that i did not cringe every time she talked.
Rudy Rush was quite good, he started good but did not follow through with the jokes. The other comedian was alright but his performance gained momentum as time went on. I basically only laughed at the end.
Now the show with Cedric the entertainer was sooooooo funny. I mean Cedric is such a joker. He upheld the whole show. The comedians in the show were good but Cedric was in a league of his own he had me laughing so many times, and he didn't mention sex once as many comedians in this series love to do.

Bewitched - The Complete Second Season (1964) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Never before seen in color, Season 2 has been colorfied with the power of computer technology. Season 1 looked fantastic. Season 2 looks a bit artificial on some of the episodes, but they look about as good as they did for Season 1 and considering they had to color a massive 38 episodes, that's quite a feat and I really have nothing to gripe about. A few of the episodes are basic flashbacks from Season 1, which is a bit annoying because they are just recordings from the previous season. Sure there are only a few, but why do episodes that were in the previous season? Very odd. Anyway...They are getting very close to really getting those skin tones right, and to the naked eye, most won't know these are artifical colors for the new color addition.
Season 2 contains a whopping 38 wonderful episodes in all, one gigantic Season for true fans that want to enjoy some serious bewitching entertainment. As fans know, these timeless episodes have easily withstood the test of time, even here in 2005 I'm loving it all. Season 2 still includes the very funny antics of Alice Pearce and George Tobias (Kravitz's)as they reprise their roles as the nosy neighbors across the street. Alice Pearce is a wonderful actress as her nosy-self just makes the series all that more enjoyable. Her relationship with her husband reminds me of the "Roepers" from Three's Company, the crazy one liners from the two will draw chuckles every time!
Unfortunately you'll only be able to enjoy her throughout season 2 as she (sadly) does not return for Season 3 and is replaced by a lesser known, so enjoy the very best Mrs. Kravitz now! Alice Pearce (Mrs. Kravitz) developed cancer in the middle of Season 2 and ask you can see by watching, her weight and health deteriorated. She is missing for most of the second 1/2 of the season and they actually saved an earlier episode with her in it to save it for the last one. I for one believe Bewitched would never have been as successful without her in it.
Season 2 also really shines as Marion Lorne (Aunt Clara) is throughout this season and she is wonderful. I would have loved to have an Aunt as sweet and funny as her. Sadly, more tragedy. In the real world, Lorne suffered a massive heart attack during Season 2 and explains her absence the second half of the season. Dick York, the most famous Darrin of them all also suffered "unbeknownst to many" through his life as Darrin. He suffered from a constant back ailment and it slowly progressed to the point where he simply could not continue his role. York recalls his feelings every day as Darrin. " "I took pain pills to get to sleep because I didn't want to go to work the next day exhausted." York suffered, and suffered, but fans know he never let anyone know, he fought the pain and made everyone laugh, and that's why he's so special, he just wanted to make people laugh. York finally succombed to lung cancer and passed away in 1992. Sam (Montgomery) life was also cut short due to "colon cancer" and she died at a very youthful 62 years old. Just a little tidbit note, Montgomery was also a very "avid smoker" and was noted as smoking during breaks of the show and was difficult for her not lightup during filming when everyone else on the show usually did. Ok, enough sad stories!
Lookout for Endora and Darrin really battling it out in this grand season. The episode where she turns him into a warewolf on Halloween is priceless entertainment. And I never stop laughing as she still continues to never remember his name...Darwood, Darwin, Darewood, Damian, David, just simply hilarious. And don't worry about Dick York (the favorite Darrin of them all)leaving the series anytime soon, even with his rotten back, he will be around for several more DVD packs, specifically Season 5 and then eventually replaced by Dick Sargeant for Season's 6-8. The big news early in this season is that Sam is going to have a baby! Think she'll be a witch? Do you know what episode Tabitha is born in? If you're fan, you already know the answer! Life of Riley (1949-53) / Our Miss Brooks (1953) (Double Feature / Four Episode Edition) (2007) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The sound on the second part of this DVD (Our Miss Brooks) is hardly audible and should never have been released in that condition. Turning the volume up as loud as possible the audio on the DVD can still hardly be heard. There are only 4 episodes on this DVD not really making it worth the price of the item. Very disappointing. I am disappointed also in that this item would be sold by anyone being so poorly reproduced.

Martin and Lewis Colgate Comedy Hour 16 Classic Episodes (2006) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Positives: Considering the age and quality of the recording equipment at the time these were produced, the video and audio is about as good as can be expected. The collection is priceless if you are a fan of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. They play off each other and seem to have a genuine affection for each other that makes it fun to watch.
Negatives: The video has the production company's stamp in the bottom right corner all the way through. Also, the episodes have been edited to some extent - all commercials have been edited out, and some of the transitions have been edited out. Also, the episodes are not in any sort of order and are not labelled as to air date.
After a little research, the airdates of the episodes in this set are (DVDs are not labelled by number, so I've randomly assigned them numbers):
Disc 1
2/4/51
1/25/53
11/4/51
4/29/51
Disc 2
10/4/53
5/8/55
9/17/50
9/21/52
Disc 3
12/19/54
12/30/51
9/18/55
2/10/52
Disc 4
6/5/55
6/24/51
10/30/52
5/3/53

P. Diddy Presents the Bad Boys of Comedy - Season 1 (2005) Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Pure rip off. I'm upset about it too. I bought this DVD because I wanted to purchase a specific video of a particular comedian: Rasheed Thurmond, who is HILARIOUS! If you type his name on this website's search field - the "bad boys" video comes up. I distinctly remember that this show is where I first saw Rasheed. Problem? He's NOT on the DVD. The show I saw had Rasheed and way other funny comedians who don't appear on this DVD at all. The seller must have wanted to be safe and kept the mediocre ones for this DVD in my opinion. Rasheed is not for everyone. Either that or what we purchased was the "short version" of season 1. He was THE BEST ever on that show. Too funny for words. If you don't believe me, google his name and watch his comedy clips. You will cry laughing. Or take a look here...[....] (scroll down).
