I grew up on both the Munsters and the Addams Family, so I've always had much love for both shows, but when it came down to it, the Munsters was always my top pick. Maybe it was the collection of "monsters" within the family, or Marilyn, or the family's crazy hot rods the Munster Coupe & the Dragula from legendary customizer George Barris, or just the comfort zone of the corny one-liners and family-oriented atmosphere. In any case, the Munsters is definitely classic in every sense and now it's here on DVD!
The set's package design is somewhat inspired. The outer box opens "coffin-style" to reveal the disc-holding "digipack" inside, as the flipped-open box top has the table of contents on it with only the episodes plus the unaired pilot listed. The episodes are spread across 3 double-sided discs. Here's a list of the season 1 episodes:
The Munsters Unaired Pilot
Munster Masquerade
My Fair Munster
A Walk on the Mild Side
Rock-a-Bye Munster
Pike's Pique
Lo-Cal Munster
Tin Can Man
Herman the Great
Knock Wood, Here Comes Charlie
Autumn Croakus
The Midnight Ride of Herman Munster
The Sleeping Cutie
The Munsters' Family Portrait
Grandpa Leaves Home
Herman's Rival
Grandpa's Call of the Wild
All-Star Munster
If a Martian Answers, Hang Up
Eddie's Nickname
Bats of a Feather
Don't Bank on Herman
Dance With Me, Herman
Follow That Munster
Love Locked Out
Come Back, Little Googie
Far Out Munsters
Munsters on the Move
Movie Star Munster
Herman the Rookie
Country Club Munsters
Love Comes to Mockingbird Heights
Mummy Munster
Lily Munster, Girl Model
Munster the Magnificent
Herman's Happy Valley
Hot Rod Herman
Herman's Raise
Yes, Galen, There Is a Herman (aka My Friend Herman)
38 episodes plus the unaired pilot, that's ALOT of Munsters!

I knew something was wrong when disc 4 was telling me it had episodes with Al Lewis before he became a part of the police squad. In the first episode on disc 1 he is already a member, and the Christmas episode would NEVER be the last episode of the season. So the order was just messed up!

Car 54 Where Are You, one of the best loved and funniest TV shows of alltime finally comes to DVD for the first time. All 30 episodes of theNat Hikenfirst season (1961-62) are included in a set of 4 DVDs, each newlyremastered from the only known set of 35 mm fine grain prints. The show stars Joe E. Ross as Gunther Toody and Fred Gwynne as FrancisMuldoon, a lovably inept squad car team that patrols the Bronx's 53rdprecinct. Muldoon plays the long-suffering voice of reason who invariablyreins in his short stocky partners dimwitted schemes and patiently listensto his hilariously inane prattle. The perfectly cast ensemble of supportingactors includes Beatrice Pons as Toodys domineering shrew of a wife, AlLewis as the rubber-faced, irascible Officer Leo Schnauser, Charlotte Rae asSchnausers moody, hot-tempered wife and Paul Reed as the perpetuallyexasperated captain Block. Each episode was filled out with talent drawnfrom New York's pool of seasoned film and TV veterans, borscht beltcomedians and Broadway stage actors, and the first season featuresmemorable guest star appearances by show biz pros Molly Picon, Wally Cox,Jan Murray, Maureen Stapleton, Jake La Motta and many more. The show was the brainchild of Nat Hiken, already famous for his highlyacclaimed Sgt. Bilko show, and many critics feel Car 54, with its quirkystory lines, offbeat characters and hilarious dialogue even surpassed Bilkoas a comic masterpiece. Drawing on his 25 years of writing experience fortop comedy shows on radio and television (Fred Allen, Milton Berle, MarthaRaye), Hiken created a show rich with New York humor and offbeat charactersin scripts that were polished jewels of comedy. Soon television would optfor more formulaic programming, and Car 54 Where Are You was the last gaspof an early golden era of New York television. Specifically shot as a bonus extra for this release is a brand-newfree-wheeling round table conversation between Bronx-raised comedian RobertKlein and two of the regular cast members --Charlotte Rae, who played SylviaSchnauser, and Hank Garrett, who played Officer Ed Nicholson, one of thecops of the 53rd precinct. Rae and Garrett share stories, anecdotes andmemories with Klein (a fan of Hikens work) that shed light on what went onbehind the scenes.

From the windy Mockingbird Heights at 1313 Mockingbird Lane, The Munsters come to send goosebumping, rib-tickling '60s wit and humor to your funny bone with The Munsters - The Complete Series!
Previously released as separate season sets, each with its own history of issues Munsters fans are all too familiar with, The Munsters Complete Series doesn't just simply repackage the episodes but also attempts to do the fans proud by righting the wrongs that haunted the previous sets.
Remember the dual-sided discs? Gone. Remember the flimsy, gimmicky, craptastic "Herman's Head" box you had to fight with to get the discs out of? Gone. Instead you'll find...
For your convenience and viewing pleasure, Universal has repackaged from the Season 1 and Season 2 sets every classic episode from the series (and respective special features) on 12 single-sided DVDs (including two bonus features) all in an exclusive collectible box set with nice package art for hours of eerie Munsters fun, and for a very reasonable price!

The discs arrived in a timely manner. The difficulty is that they were recorded from a Comedy Central Cable broadcast. Comedy Central's logo is displayed at the start of each show and the quality is at times adequate to very bad at other times. The only redeeming quality is that the program is not available from the copyright holder. Still this information should be included in the item description, but it is not.
