My two year old son has become a Thomas fanatic and this is his new favorite tape. I purchased this at a local store and it came with a wooden Percy which can be attached to the other wooden Thomas vehicles. This set is a good deal since the Percy train alone is $10 at stores.

This special collector's edition features nine favorite stories where Percy's spunk and determination lead him into all sorts of humorous situations. With classic storytelling by George Carlin and Ringo Starr. This commemorative video honoring Percy includes these nine terrific tales: The Ghostly Trip - Percy delights in scary stories and is disappointed when Thomas and the others tell him they are not true. When an accidental bump coats him with a freight full of white powdery lime, he decides to play a ghostly prank on his pal Thomas. A Scarf for Percy - It is the coldest winter day and Percy wishes for a scarf to keep warm. After an argument with James, he steams into the station, crashing into a load of cartons. This time he really gets into a jam - literally. And the scarf he ends up with turns out to be Sir Topham Hatt's trousers! Percy Takes a Plunge - Percy insists on testing the limits. He ignores a warning sign and decides to ask the rail cars to help him play a trick on Thomas and the others. But instead of proving his point, he finds himself testing the waters. Percy's Predicament - Percy annoys the rail cars by ordering them around. The cars won't allow him to brake at the station and he finds himself stuck. Thomas, Percy and the Mail Train - The mail is delayed by weather and Percy wants to make up time on the next run. Harold the Helicopter brags that he can deliver mail more swiftly, but Percy delivers on time. Percy Runs Away - The little green engine is shunting cars on the main line and not heeding the others' warning that he should whistle to the signal man. When Gordon comes steaming toward him with the express train, Percy backs up and can't stop. Percy and the Signal - Again, Percy's tricks get him into trouble. He pretends to know what all the signals mean, but when he comes up to an unfamiliar sign, he ends up going in the wrong direction. Percy Proves a Point - to Harold in this episode. The haughty helicopter calls Percy slow and old-fashioned, but the little green engine proves his power in a thrilling race. Percy's Promise - is to bring a group of children home from the beach on time. It's summer on the island of Sodor, but a spell of bad weather almost prevents their return. Though the trip has its wet spots, Percy brings the children back safely, prompting Sir Topham Hatt to dub him a "Really Useful Engine."

Walt Disney's Zorro: The Complete First Season (Colorized) (1957) Review

Walt Disney's Zorro: The Complete First Season (Colorized) (1957)
Average Reviews:

I bought the series from Disney before they offered the box set. It was much pricier individually than it is now. If you remember watching this show when it first aired, or even more recently on Vault Disney you might be in for a shock: The sharp image of the original is gone. It has been replaced by the bad decades old colorized version that they used for syndication. When these were colorized it affected the clarity immensely. My question to Disney is: Who do you think wants to watch this show? If it's young kids who won't watch anything in black and white you're on to something. If it's people who remember and love this show already you've missed the boat by changing it. You already have both versions at your disposal. Why not release both so we can decide which one we want to fork our money over to you for?
I'm just saying... My videotaped edition from the final Zorro marathon on TDC looks better than these DVDs.

The Three Stooges Review

The Three Stooges
Average Reviews:

I went into buying this eight DVD box set believing that there would be at least a few classic "Stooges" shorts. Instead, I receive only ONE DVD of shorts, the rest of the set being comprised of various clips, biographies, and rare footage of the Howard brothers. I'm all for learning a bit about our classic comedy heritage here, but my main complaint is that the clips on each DVD borrow greatly from each other (you'll find yourself watching one DVD, realizing you've seen these clips on the LAST DVD!), the clips are poorly edited together, and there are far too many annoying "Pop-up Video"-esque factoids that are indeed informative, but get in the way of enjoying the Stooges' comedy.
If you're interested in learning about the team here, read a biography. If you want to actually WATCH the Stooges, try a different box set.

Wiseguy - Sonny Steelgrave and the Mob (Season 1 Part 1) (1987) Review

Wiseguy - Sonny Steelgrave and the Mob (Season 1 Part 1) (1987)

Despite music omissions, I bought the earlier 3 volumes of this fantastic show and enjoyed them immensely, particularly the first 2 sets, which had some great extras. It was all downhill from there, as this set was vomited out of the factory and onto the store shelves by Cannell Productions and Studioworks!
As others have pointed out, disc 1/episode 3 has practically unwatchable video due to poor compression, and disc 4 has no option for show only audio, you are stuck with Ken Wahl's audio commentary and nothing else. Even Ken Wahl must have been frustrated by this when he got his comp set, as the 2 episodes on the set are 2 of his most favorite, and even he can't watch them without listening to himself talk over it!
The only good thing about this set is disc 3, which has the great Washington, DC story arc. However, Cannell messed that up, too, as the opening title credit sequence features the one from the prior storyline, whereas I clearly remember that the DC episodes had a title sequence featuring characters from that arc!
And finally, more music has been replaced, as Ken Wahl HIMSELF points out on his commentaries!
What a cheap, shoddy job--I will not be fooled into buying further volumes of this series (and there are supposedly 2 more to come!) I will be sticking to my own VHS tapes instead!
(And by the way, I've read on Studioworks' own site that the manufacturers'suggested retail price was something like $39.99, so I'm not sure how other sites are charging more for it)

Vinnie Terranova (Ken Wahl), a tough, street-wise undercover agent, infiltrates the organized-crime syndicate in Atlantic City where, with one slip of his cover, he could end up a dead man. Partly because of his smarts and "wiseguy" attitude, special Agent Terranova has been trained by the Organized Crime Bureau (OCB). In his precarious position, only a select few know his true identity including Frank Mc Pike, his supervisor in the OCB and "lifeguard" his only communications link to the Bureau while undercover. In Sonny Steelgrave & the Mob, Federal Agent Vinnie Terranova establishes an ex-con rap to infiltrate the organized crime of Atlantic City.

Till Death Us Do Part Collection Review

Till Death Us Do Part Collection
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This BBC comedy aired for nine years (1966-1975) and was the
model for Norman Lears Hilarious sitcom All in the Family. Be
aware the comedy is very different than that of AITF. Alf Garnett, the British Archie Bunker, is far more bigoted and
profane. Else (Edith in on AITF) has a totally differnt
personality and THEIR EDITH SMOKES. The Garnetts, like the Bunkers, have a "Mike and Gloria" living with them, only here
their "Micheal and Rita". Rita is simallar to Gloria, but Micheal is totally different than Mike.
Here is the summary of episodes included on the disc(s),
Disc One (To Garnett a Grandson),
TO GARNETT A GRANDSON,
Its off to the hospital to visit daughter Rita and the new
grandbaby. The sight of the new baby manages to calm Alf from
his normal self, until Micheal brings up the babys new name.
Then the squalling really starts.
PIGEON FANCIER,
Flush with a tax rebate, Alf decides to celebrate down at the
pub. A hotshot neighbour makes things more intresting when he
starts to brag about his racing pigeons. To Alf that sounds like a way to double his windfall, if he is not made into a pigeon himself.
HOLIDAY IN BOURNEMOUTH,
The Family head for a holiday (vacation as we "yanks" would
call it) in the seaside town of Bournemouth. But Alf just can
see why the sea in Bournemouth is any better than the water
that laps around the docks in Wapping. Alf, naturally gets the worst of the trip as he battles with both sunburn and a fat and
noisy hotel proprietress. Later, Alf and Else are sitting by the pool when a boy fiddles with Alfs chair and he falls in the water.
BONUS FEATURES,
A bio on Warren Mitchell (Alf)
A filmography on Johnny Speight.
Disc Two (Dock Pilfering),
DOCK PILFERING,
After ruining everyones breakfast with his normal attitude,
Alf heads down to the docks for work. Then Alf discoveres his
"silly old moo" of a wife has paid him back.
UP THE HAMMERS (also known as ALF TAKES THE BABY)
Alf heads off to a football game, as Rita and Else head for a
day of shopping in London. But when "young Micheal" goes missing
the panic starts. Later they find out who the real theif is!
This is the best episode, my opinion.
ALFS BROKEN LEG,
Alf's broken leg is making him more cantankerous than normal.
A trip down to the pub might do good for him. But later some michevous kids take advantage of his wheelchair state, and soon
everone is laughing but Alf.
BONUS:SPECIAL CHRISTMAS EPISODE, tis the season when the family
would really like to deck Alf! The only way they will have a silent night is when he returns from "down the pub" with with
sugarplums and a hangover dancing his head.

Astro Boy Collection Box Set (2003) Review

Astro Boy Collection Box Set (2003)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Way to go!!100,000 horse power!!!Here comes the amazing ASTRO BOY!!The orginal ASTRO BOY!! The BEST ASTRO BOY!!
After being terribly disapointed for the previous 2003 released of the new Astro boy, I was surprised to find out this new released of the orginal 1980 series to become a must-have for all those astro fans. This is the real Astro boy, Tetsuwan Atom!!
Above all the best treat from this set was: IT CONTAINS THE ORGINAL SOUNDTRACK!! not only in English, but in JAPANESE also!!!! Not only dose it contain it, and also the sound quality was amazingly well-preserved!! Even though on the cover it says 51 half hour episodes in English. I fell deeply soul-stirring while listening to the orginal theme song, of which was the one song that was never left out from my childhood memory!! The picture quality was excellent too. Followed by the artworks, performances, and the outstanding script all created by Osamu Tezuka himself, have all made this collection to be priceless!! This boxset also contains an exquisite booklet, and with all other special features I have not yet seen, including the delected scenes from the orginal show, story board sequence, Character profiles and the gallery of the orginal manga cover.
When the enthusiastic scientist Doctor Tenma lost his only son Toby in a car crash, the ingenious robot engineer was determined to construct a boy robot in a hope to make up the lost of his only son, only to find out that the robot he created could never replace what he lost. Overcame by despair Astro left Tenma on a cruised, and was later on kidnaped by a evil manager of a robot circus, thus begins our excting adventures of Astro Boy!! In these adventures we discovered the everlasting strugles about human natures, industrial evolutions, environmental crisis and many other things.
Osamu Tezuka is the god of manga. In his life he created over 400 comic books, 60 different titles of animation. Astro was 1 of the earilest charcter he created. His masterpieces also include Jungle Emperor( the orginal Lion King ), Black Jack, Fire-bird the phoenix, Princess knight, Buddha, History of birdman, Ahundred tales, Metropilos and many other amazing creations. He said that the idear through his works is just a simple message, love all creatures, love everything that has life.
If only Osamu Tezuka was still alive today, he will be happy to witness his Astro Boy has been passed on to the younger generations. This DVD collection is a must-have for all people. Highly recomended for all ages, you will be surprised how much you are gonna enjoy this masterpiece!!

The World At War - Complete Set (1941) Review

The World At War - Complete Set (1941)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Assuming that a filmmaker can't go on indefinately, let's say making a history of World War II in hundred or more hours of videotape, Jeremy Isaacs has done a masterful job of capturing the essense of World War II, including its causes and the Cold War that evolved out of its conclusion.
Please note, "The World At War" was produced between 1971 and 1974, which means the interviews with veterans and other war survivors were filmed close to thirty years after the conclusion of World War II.
I watched much of this series when it was first telecasted in the 1970s, and continued to view reruns of programs over the last 25+ years. I had thought that I had seen every episode two or three times, but after finishing the complete DVD collection, I'm pretty sure I completely missed some programs and saw only bits-and-pieces of others.
What a tremendous production. Beautiful reproduced on DVD, with excellent color and superb graphics (maps).
I especially appreciated the opening special, "The Making of..." with producer Jeremy Isaacs, as well as Isaacs' brief introductions to each of the 26 programs. I only wish he had prepared similar introductions to the supplementary material on Discs 4 and 5, but you can't have everything.
"The World At War" is hundred times better than the typical fare found on A&E, The History Channel, and even PBS. That's not to say that quality productions are not being made today, but Jeremy Isaacs' production is just plain better than most things regularly scheduled documentaries on cable and broadcast television.
Special mention must be made of the music by Carl Davis and the writers, who are too numerous to mention. Everyone familiar with this series knows the contribution of Sir Laurence Olivier, definitely the finest documentary narration I've ever heard.
As an American, I particularly appreciate the British perspective, which offers a different view of the breath, scope and horror of the war. The series really puts the current War on Terrorism in perspective.
The supplementary material begins with an extended interview/commentary by Traudl Junge who served as Hitler's secretary. She's a fascinating person, speaking calmly and thoughtfully about her former employer, especially the events leading up to his suicide.
There is an equally interesting interview with historian Stephen Ambrose, filmed in the early 1970s. While looking 25+ years younger, Ambrose sounds almost the same as he does today during his numerous C-Span and PBS appearances.
The most fascinating of the eight hours of supplementary material are the programs dealing with the Death of Adolf Hitler and the extended two part examination of the Final Solution.
Thank you, Amazon, for making this wonderful documentary so accessible.
For those of you contemplating this major expediture, you won't regret purchasing this landmark visual/aural history of World War II.
And remember, this DVD collection will be available for your children and grandchildren.

Hello Kitty and Friends - Fairy Tale Fantasy (Vol. 1) (2004)
Average Reviews:

The cartoons on this DVD are from a series that I refer to as the "Sanrio Animation Series." The star characters in this series are Hello Kitty, Keroppi, and Pekkle. They are primarily english-dubbed versions of the Japanese Sanrio cartoons. As an adult collector of Sanrio, I enjoyed watching these cartoons, but because of their Japanese origins, be aware that the cartoons might not be suitable for very young children (but they are no worse than anything that Disney has to offer). (If you are looking for completely mild/non-violent videos for your children, I suggest the Furry Tale Theater or the educational Hello Kitty Paradise series instead.)
This "Fairy Tale Fantasy" DVD contains: Cinderella (Hello Kitty), Snow White (Hello Kitty), Robin Hood (Keroppi) and Sinbad (Pekkle).

Be advised, there are two versions of this video available, and this is not the one to buy. Paramount released this under the assumption that the only extant print of the original pilot was in black and white, and they combined it with the color footage used in The Menagerie. A few years later, a color print surfaced and was released. For some reason, Paramount continues to market them both. Amazon has the full-color version available, its ASIN is B000003K1B. Also, the black and white/color version is Volume 1 of the original video series; and the full color is Volume 99. So to get the most out of the amazing dancing green babe, buy the color one!

Cheyenne: The Complete Second Season (10-Disc Set) (1956) Review

Cheyenne: The Complete Second Season (10-Disc Set) (1956)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Cheyenne show is a fabulous trip to the Golden Age of television, to the days when the western genre was simple and pure, when manicheism was well established, good guys versus bad guys. We must urge Warner Bros. to release the second season of Cheyenne as soon as possible. The previous one was released on June 6, 06, so now it is the right time for a new release. The first season of Cheyenne was indeed very good, but the second one is much, much better in all aspects. Season one had only 15 episodes and each ran about 40 minutes each. Season two has 20 episodes running about 50 minutes each. The writing is much better for season two. The famous Cheyenne logo (Cheyenne's bust and the mountainous background)and the familiar theme song by William Lana & Stan Jones, both lacking in the first season, are largely featured starting with season two. The episodes also carry beautiful designs for the initial and final credits.
And finally a word about Clint Walker. He is a better actor in this season, proving that he was one of best western stars for television.
The second and third seasons of Cheyenne are the outstanding years of the show, a must to everybody that loved the great TV westerns of the 50s and 60s, and also a must to people that never had the opportunity to watch those fantastic and innocent shows of yesterday.
The episodes of the second season (1956/57)are as follow:
1 - The Dark Rider (guests: Diane Brewster, Myron Healey)
2 - The Long Winter
3 - Death Deals the Hand (guests: Leo Gordon, Arthur Hunnicut)
4 - The Bounty Killer (guest: Andrew Duggan)
5 - The Law Man
6 - The Mustang Trail (guest: Diane Brewster)
7 - Lone Gun (guests: Nancy Hale, Bob Steele)
8 - The Trap
9 - The Iron Trail (guest: Dennis Hopper)
10 - Land Beyond the Law (guest: Andrew Duggan)
11 - Test of Courage
12 - War Party (guest: Angie Dickinson)
13 - Deadline (guest: Ann Robinson)
14 - Big Ghost Basin (guest: Merry Anders)
15 - Born Bad
16 - The Brand (guest: Edward Byrnes)
17 - Decision at Gunsight (guests: John Carradine, Marie Windsor)
18 - The Spanish Grant (guests: Peggy Castle, Douglas Kennedy)
19 - Hard Bargain (guest: Richard Crenna)

Incredibly entertaining; especially for anyone who has lived through the times talked about. Many, many of the songs ARE full-length versions, albeit with commentary provided over the top. But, after all, it is a documentary and not a CD set. Tiny Planets: Making Rainbows and Other Adventures (2002) Review

Tiny Planets: Making Rainbows and Other Adventures (2002)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

Tiny Planets is a computer animated educational show for very young children. It features two furry white aliens - thoughtful Bing and playful little Bong - who zip about their universe on a furry white sofa solving little problems on one of 6 tiny planets. On each planet a diferent range of topics is explored: nature, technology, self, sound, light and color, and "stuff" (physics and geometry). Each episode is fairly short - typically well under 10 minutes, and requires no reading or numerical skills, and so is suitable for toddlers and pre-K kids. However, I find that older kids will watch with some interest, even though the material is too easy for them.

This DVD features 8 episodes in 2 groups of 4. At the beginning of each group is a short intro segment, showing Bing and Bong starting their day inside a giant crystal in their home planet, and introducing the narrator, Halley, the only character who talks (if you've the hand drawn "Maisy" series, then this approach will be familiar).

The computer animation is well done, and adults will at first enjoy how cleverly it is put together. That is, until your toddler wants to to watch it for the 400th time. Mine loves these, and prefers them to most other videos we have.

Ken Burns Presents The West (1996) Review

Ken Burns Presents The West (1996)

The West
DVD ~ Peter Coyote
When some people use the word "documentary" they seem to imbue it with an expectation of total objectivity--as if one could eliminate all traces of cultural experience from one's makeup and discover a shining path of ultimate "truth" simply by the act of becoming a filmmaker. Nonsense. We are all a product of our times and of the culture in which we were raised and educated. Documentaries are always, always, always selective. There is no such thing as total objectivity, either in writing or in filmmaking.
That said, this is an enormously valuable effort to sift through an extraordinary cross-section of materials and condense them into 12 and 1/2 hours of very viewable, enlightening and often extremely moving stories. Yes, that's right, I said "condense". The documents available on the history of the West literally fill many museums, and unless you plan to spend every waking moment of your life from the time you learn to read until the day you die as a serious scholar of western lore, you will never gain a complete knowledge of the subject. This is an outstanding effort to provide a distillation of the sense and feel of the west from the earliest days of indian tribal inhabitation to the passing of the frontier. To have even attempted that feat in a 12 and 1/2 hour presentation took courage and imagination. Although I have often grumbled to myself about Ken Burn's relentless imposition of an over-stylized montage technique on the presentation of his documentaries, I have nothing but astonished admiration for his accomplishment in crafting this mini-series. Bravo.
Yes, yes, it doesn't tell the whole story of the West. Yes, it is selective. And, yes, there are other things that could have been included. C'mon guys, quit sitting back like Monday morning quarterbacks and griping about what is missing from this presentation. Think about what he WAS able to accomplish! He captured a sense of sweep, a sense of the development of the frontier, and an extraordinarily vivid impression of the cultural, religious, social, economic and racial collisions that occurred in this vast space over a period of a couple of centuries. Good grief, what do you want, blood? If he had never made another movie, this series would still have placed him in the pantheon of American documentarians. No one is claiming that this is the only document you need to expose yourself to in order to achieve perfect understanding of the history of the West. But it's certainly one absolute requirement for inclusion in any attempt to understand the subject.
For any collector of Western memorabilia and lore, for any teacher who wants to enrich a class in American studies, and for anyone at all who simply wishes to gain a sense of the West in our history, this is a must-have set of dvds to add to your collection. It should be available in every school and public library and rerun regularly on PBS. It's the best thing Burns has ever done--the Civil War series notwithstanding--and those who chirp like little toads that it should have been better are welcome to make an effort to direct and produce a version that improves on it. Don't hold your breath until that happens.
Now I'm about to suggest a bit of social heresy in this day of 30 second commercials and infinitesimal attention spans. If you really want to gain the ultimate impact, try total immersion. Choose a rainy or snowy Saturday or Sunday, lay in a goodly supply of your favorite food and drink, lock the door and turn your phone off (!), and then do a total viewing immersion. Watch the entire series from beginning to end in one marathon day. And by the way, treat yourself to some solitude. That's right, do it alone; spend one day watching this without having to pay attention to the needs or attitudes or reactions of a viewing companion. Let it surround and soak into your senses. Embrace the barrage of images and sounds. Plunge headlong into that amazing collection of stories about people and places and events. It will change you. You won't come away with total recall of details, but you will achieve a new sensory and intellectual appreciation of our history that is geometrically greater than watching it piecemeal with days or weeks intervening between the episodes. Later on, after some time has passed, you can go back and view it again in the self-contained capsules; that time through, you will absorb the detail. Go ahead, try it. Challenge your mind.
Well done, Mr. Burns! My hat is off to you. And thank you PBS for reminding us that our brains are for thinking.

Soupy Sales Collection: The Whole Gang Is Here (2006) Review

Soupy Sales Collection: The Whole Gang Is Here (2006)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
...let me start by saying that "The New Soupy Sales Show" (which is what almost all of this collection is based on) is an extremely funny set of skits, riffs, and humorous repartee' from one of the giants of children's shows from the '70s and early '80s.
The only major complaint that I have with this set is that there is borderline false advertising regarding the inclusion of ORIGINAL material from this comic genius. If the buyer doesn't read the description on the back of the DVD carefully, he or she might believe that this DVD set contains material from Soupy's late '50s and '60s children's show. It actually contains very little (with the exception of a great skit from the original show that includes Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Trini Lopez). Tragically, most of the original show has been erased and will never be available for viewing again.
Another concern deals with the inclusion of what is one of the funniest outtakes in TV history....Soupy's visit by a backstage stripper. If the viewer has seen footage of this on some of the Dick Clark "Bloopers" shows on television over the years, they would know that the viewer only sees what's in front of the set and how it unnerves Soupy. This DVD contains the actual "stripper footage" from the BACK of the set that exposes the well-endowed dancer in all of her glory. Not for viewing by children! (Soupy's reaction to the prank is PRICELESS, though!)
With all of this being said, let me close by saying that this DVD set is certainly worth the price I paid for it. Soupy Sales was a comic genius and his good-natured puns and humor never tire. He appeared to love his work and often times "cut himself up" with what he was saying or what was going on around him. One can't watch these 3 disks without laughing out loud!
RECOMMENDED for fans of the old show!

December Bride Collection - Classic TV Shows Review

December Bride Collection - Classic TV Shows

Finally! DECEMBER BRIDE, 24 episodes, has been released by The Nostalgia Merchant. Although I would have liked to have the entire series released by season, I know that many of these films are no longer available, or have been damaged beyond repair.
I have this set from Nostalgia Merchant and am very happy with the quality. Although not digital quality, I consider the quality to be good for these very old episodes.
Up until now it has been impossible to find any episodes of this show. Thanks Nostalgia Merchant for offering these classic episodes!

Courage the Cowardly Dog - Season 1 - 2-DVD Set ( Courage the Cowardly Dog - Season One ) Review

Courage the Cowardly Dog - Season 1 - 2-DVD Set ( Courage the Cowardly Dog - Season One )

Back in the day, when Cartoon Network was in their prime, they had a killer lineup every Friday night. This included Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, Cow and Chicken, Johnny Bravo, and my personal favorite, a show about a cowardly dog named Courage. I was hooked from the first episode I ever watched, which featured the little black duckling. This show had it all. Great stories were first and foremost. They were like mini-films. The stories were ridiculous, but it didn't matter because they were treated in such an epic way. The animation was great, and the backgrounds were out of this world. As much as I liked Dexter and Powerpuff Girls, their backgrounds were VERY simplistic. It was refreshing to see the style used for Courage, where the backgrounds displayed so much detail and atmosphere, which drew you in to the story all the more. As for Courage himself, true, he was a coward, but in each episode, he had to find a way to put that all aside to save his owners, Muriel and Eustace. Courage was the kind of hero you could relate to. He didn't wanna be the hero, and if you had to go up against some of the crazy stuff he did, you wouldn't wanna be either. But there was something about the dog's anxious disposition and terrified personality that made him a likeable character. He didn't talk much, but what he said mattered. "I know I'm not gonna like this" was his battle cry when it came time for action. Then he would pull out some off-the-wall prop or devise some master plan to save the day, and things would go back to normal again, except for the fact that most of the time, the family house was destroyed by the end of the episode.
This is one of the best cartoon series ever made. It's timeless and truly fun to watch. I'm ordering a copy, and so should everyone else who enjoys good storytelling.
P.S.- It's too bad all the negative reviews for a DIFFERENT DVD release are showing up here. Those are for the Australian release, not this one.

The Great Depression (History Channel - 4 video set) (1998) Review

The Great Depression (History Channel - 4 video set) (1998)

"The Great Depression" is a four chapter documentary of the Great Depression during the 1930's. Each is interesting and can be watched separately as it will take over 3 hours to watch all four. They are 1) The New Deal, 2)Mass Media, 3) Marathon Dancing, and 4)Hard Times and American Hobo. This is a great historical time and shows the foundations of many of today's organizations, media and government programs. The History Channel does an excellent job and Mario Cuomo narrates and introduces each piece. It is interesting how his family survived during the Depression as well as thrived when the economy recoverd. I also learned tidbits on where "Depression Glass" came from and how it was connected to the movies.
