Sanford and Son: The Fourth Season (1972) Review

Sanford and Son: The Fourth Season (1972)

...And other Fred to Aunt Esther insults abound, in this, the hilarious 4th season of the classic Sanford & Son. Season 4 ran from Sept 1974 to April 1975 and consists of the 24 episodes contained on these three dvds. Like, Season 3, this season also contains episodes where Redd Foxx does not appear, but only 4 this time as opposed to the previous season's 6 episodes minus Fred. Although that hampers the series somewhat, the episodes without him usually feature Lamont, Grady, Esther, & others so they're still worthy of some great laughs. Three of the four episodes without Fred make up the first part of disc one of the set, so Fred makes his first appearance in the fourth episode, a real classic, where Lamont invites over his "sensitivity group" who like to touch each other and Fred reluctantly allows it and joins in! Many hilarious moments in Season 4 include: Fred's hangover remedy, Fred finds Sinatra's ring, Grady meets a special lady at JC Penny, a strange plant is growing in Fred's garden, Fred buys a horse that's not what it seems, and many many more!
Here is the content of this hilarious set:
Disc One:
01. Fred's Treasure Garden (Fred doesn't appear)
02. Once a thief (Fred doesn't appear)
03. A little extra security (Fred doesn't appear)
04. There'll be some changes made
05. Going out of business
06. Ol' Brown Eyes is back
07. Matchmaker, Matchmaker
08. Grady & his lady
Disc Two:
09. The surprise party
10. My kingdom for a horse
11. Home sweet home
12. Sanford & Niece
13. Strange bedfellows
14. Julio & Sister & Nephew
15. The merger
16. Tower Power
Disc Three:
17. My brother in law's keeper
18. The masquerade party
19. Golden boy
20. The stand-ins
21. The headache
22. The older woman
23. The stung
24. The family man (Fred & Lamont don't appear)
Trivia:
*The final episode of Season 4, "The Family Man", serves as the pilot episode for the short lived spin off series, "Grady" starring Whitman Mayo and Haywood Nelson (Dwayne from What's Happening!!). The series was canceled after only 12 episodes. It's easy to see why Whitman Mayo was offered the series because his character on Sanford & Son became increasingly popular and in 1975 he was nominated for a Golden Globe for best supporting actor as "Grady".
*Episode 23, "The Stung", features the last appearance for Julio (Gregory Sierra, who joined the cast of Barney Miller). Episode 4, "There'll be some changes made" has the first appearance of Ah Chew (Pat Morita).
*Although Redd Fox appears in all 24 episodes of Season 5, there are a few without Demond Wilson. Season 5 is also where Fred & Lamont turn Julio's old home into a boarding house called "The Sanford Arms" (also the name of the episode). The episode created a spin off series of the same name which didn't include Fred, Lamont, or Grady, but instead Aunt Esther and Bubba. The series only lasted 4 episodes.
*Redd Foxx and the producers were nominated for awards several times through out the run of Sanford & Son, but only in 1973, did Foxx win with a Golden Globe for best television actor in a comedy. An honor he more than earned. Personally, I feel Demond Wilson (Lamont) was underrated and not properly acknowledged for his essential role and amazing chemistry with Redd.

Shout Factory and the family of Robert Young and estate of Eugene Rodney should all be given kudos for listening to our wishes for "Uncut" episodes of this classic slice of Americana- Father Knows Best! Sony also deserves credit for co-operating with Shout Factory in searching in Sony's vaults to be able to present the Season 2 set in complete uncut episodes! This is GREAT news that should be greeted by all of the fans of this show with applause and pre-orders for this set!

The Donna Reed Show: Season Three (2009) Review

The Donna Reed Show: Season Three (2009)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Wow, talk about fast releases! I am not even finished viewing The Donna Reed Show's Second Season and Arts Alliance announced that Season Three will be available to purchase on December 1st,2009! In this Season 3, there are 38 episodes which will be featured on 4 discs with bonus material. With only 5 more seasons to follow, it looks like we'll have The Donna Reed Show's complete series faster than any series ever put on dvd. I just hope in all this speed that they keep the film quality as good as the first 2 seasons, as the quality is good, but not great. After seeing The Lucy Show's remastered quality that is almost pristine perfect, this show looks passably good, and I hope they keep it this way.
In this third season, daughter Mary is now 16 and learning to drive. Brother Jeff is now a teenager himself at age 13. Donna Stone starts to show a little "woman's liberation" when she wants to start her own business and teaches a Japanese Geisha wife how to become more American by not catering so much to her husband. There are great guest star appearances as well by Jay North as Dennis the Menace and poor Mr. Wilson, along with Tony Martin, Harvey Korman, Jack Albertson, George Sidney and more. It's another great season in the Stone family as you watch family life in America in 1960 and 1961!

Diver Dan (2006) Review

Diver Dan (2006)
Average Reviews:

I was glad to order this DVD, having awaited the arrival of DIVER DAN on home video for years -- but enjoyable though it was watching this DVD, this isn't really the proper release of DIVER DAN on digital video disc. The Alpha DVD is apparently unlicensed, and while it's good to have the 15 shows included here, this is going to look a lot better when and if the actual owners of the series ever get an edition of their own out. For starters, they're in black-and-white (which, yes, I know is how all of us saw the show in 1960-66 or whenever we caught it), but the series was actually show in full color, and should be presented that way. But worse is the fact that not only are the story-lines incomplete, because the makers didn't have complete story-arcs among some of the 15 shows here, but they're also out of sequence, so that the first installment of what was the last story in the series comes at the very end of the disc, over an hour after the material that is supposed to follow it. The transfers are also flawed in places -- for the price it's okay, but I'll gladly buy this material again, to get this series done properly if the owners of the series ever give me the opportunity.

The Donna Reed Show: The Complete Second Season (2009)

Season 2 of The Donna Reed Show is here, and the wait was wonderfully short! There are 38 new episodes of the Stone Family's life to enjoy. Mary Stone is now 15 and brother Jeff is now 12 years old. Mary at 15, starts to date, as the high school boys and even young college men take notice of the beautiful young woman she is becoming. There are great guest stars on these episodes as well. The beautiful Esther Williams plays Donna's school friend Molly. And a young Marion Ross, the Happy Days mom plays Jeff's new teacher. This second season is just as wonderful as the first, as you follow life in the Stone household through the end of 1959 and halfway into 1960. Hopefully, the next six seasons will follow just as quickly as this one did, as each season just keeps getting more wonderful than the one before with such great stories and guest stars!

3 Stooges: Idiots Deluxe (1945) Review

3 Stooges: Idiots Deluxe (1945)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ya know, the only reason this tape isn't 5 stars is for the fact that there are even better ones than these classics. These are 3 of my FAVORITE episodes, but I just can't bring myself to saying it's top-notch stooges (Such as the movie "A Plumbing We Will Go)
The first episode, "I Can Hardly Wait", is, in my opinion...the funniest episode on the tape. It starts off with Larry, Moe, and Curly, as defense workers, coming home and making dinner. There are the usual antics while preparing the food, which are funny, but not even as close as to what happens next. Moe and Larry split a ham and an egg, and leave Curly with a full egg shell and a whole bone. (They make it sound as if their being generous to the poor guy.) Curly, being Curly, believes them and attempts to eat the bone, cracking his tooth. It all results in Curly moaning and groaning and keeping Moe and Larry from sleeping. They try several "home remedies" (Hilarious) but when they fail, they take him to the dentist. I'll leave the ending out, as to not to spoil the funny scene at the end. Fans, this video is almost worth the price just for this episode.
Next is "Idiots De Luxe" which is funny, I would say the 2'nd best. I remember seeing this short when I was very little, and loving it. Curly and Larry are prosecuting Moe in court for "attempted murder". It then goes back in the past, where Moe is a nervous wreck and Curly and Larry take him for a trip to the woods for peace and quiet. It ends up they have the company of a bear in their cabin, who eats their food and gives them all quite a scare. This is funny episode, and I especially like Larry in it, he seems to have more energy and has many more lines. Great episode!
Last is the worst episode on the tape, but still very amusing, "Idle Roomers". Moe, Larry, and Curly are hotel workers who, while cleaning a room, find a wearwolf-guy prowling around. The thing is, whenever this wearwolf-guy hears music, he goes crazy! (Of course he hears music more than once and goes totally crazy on the 3 guys) It's a very funny episode, but I didn't laugh out loud many times, if...at all.
All together, you HAVE to buy this tape. It's one of the few Columbia House videos of the Stooges that have all 3 episodes on it very good. (They try to spread all the GREAT episodes out on different tapes.) But for this one...all 3 are wonderful and it is DEFINETLY worth the price. Get this one now fans, and hurry! -Stooge Fan

The Dick Van Dyke Show - Season Two (Five Disc Boxed Set) (1961) Review

The Dick Van Dyke Show - Season Two (Five Disc Boxed Set) (1961)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These terrific DVDs are enhanced by vintage clips -- promos and commercials with the stars; a half-hour cast guest spot on "Stump the Stars"; Carl Reiner and company gleefully receiving some of their 15 Emmys. Hidden features show the cast selling cigarettes for Kent, a loyal sponsor.
Stars of the time such as Joey Bishop, Lucille Ball, Sebastian Cabot, Bob Crane and Jane Wyatt pop up, making the sets delightful time capsules.
Dick Van Dyke and Reiner do leisurely commentaries on a handful of key episodes, spending a lot of time on what happened to the cast and crew -- especially who is "still with us," and who is not. They swap a few great stories, and have vivid memories of making the episodes. "Stan Laurel should have sued me," Van Dyke says as he watches himself do a bit. "If only life could be so simple," Reiner sighs as one plot unfolds.
Co-star Rose Marie, ex-child actor Larry Mathews and "neighbor" Ann Morgan Guilbert chat over a few other shows. In one case, Rose Marie plows ahead with a hilarious story long after the episode has ended.
While the audio commentaries are new, other recollections come via footage from what must have been a terrific 1994 TV special about the show. Executive producer Sheldon Leonard and "human joke machine" Morey Amsterdam, both of whom have since passed away, have their say in these clips.
Images and sound are surprisingly good. The restored video has decent contrasts over a pleasing gray scale, with minor wear surfacing here and there. The look falls comfortably between flat and silvery. The 2.0 mono ably conveys dialog, canned laughter and Earle Hagan's bouncy theme music.
The first DVD set includes "Head of the Family," Reiner's flat, almost surreal 1960 pilot for the show, in which he played the lead against a different cast. No network was buying. "The reason Carl Reiner's show failed was Carl Reiner," hot-handed producer Leonard recalled in 1994.
The world-famous ottoman pratfall appears on season 1's cover, in one of those almost 3-D moving photos. Trivia comes in segments called "Ottoman Trippers."

Dark Shadows DVD Collection 1 (1966) Review

Dark Shadows DVD Collection 1 (1966)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
... Basically, this first DVD set is VHS Volumes 1-4; in other words, 8 actual weeks of the programme, 2 weeks on each disc. The quality is better than the VHS tapes, but not greatly, as Dark Shadows was a very low budget soap opera, and through the years some of the original prints were lost, damaged, etc., and alternative prints were utilised in their stead; but it is a definite improvement over the quality of the VHS tapes. The programmes on this DVD collection begin at the same point in the series as the VHS videos begin: a synopsis of the earlier episodes and characters followed by the introduction of Barnabas Collins the Vampyre. As far as extras, there are three interviews approximately 5 minutes long each: Jonathan Frid (Barnabas), Kathryn Leigh-Scott (Maggie, Josette), and John Karlen (Willie, Kendrick), each interviewed several years ago. What really should be noted about the DVD collection(s) that differs from the VHS tapes is that ALL THE EPISODES ARE COMPLETE AND UNEDITED. The VHS tapes are actually edited. I didn't really notice this at first, until I realised I was seeing episodes and parts of episodes that weren't shown in the VHS volumes. (A clue to this being my former statement that the DVD collection, consisiting of 8 weeks, equals that of the VHS Volumes, 1-4; and as the VHS volumes only consist of approximately one week each, the math is incorrect.) By seeing the complete episodes, the viewer will find (after having watched the VHS tapes) the story to be fleshed out more, focusing more on all the characters and situations.
If you're new to Dark Shadows and are curious about this show and want a good starter sampler, this DVD collection is perhaps the best and least expensive way to start. For to begin with less than these 40 episodes will not give one a good idea of the scope of this programme. Quite frankly, even 40 episodes isn't enough to give anyone the idea of the scope of this show as there were so many changes in events and characters throughout the series. Keep in mind this is/was a five day a week soap opera (even if it is gothic), that it was on for approximately four to five years, that, as with all soap operas, it is mainly dialogue-based and moves at a snail's pace, and that, as such, can be very boring and tedious at times! And do expect low budget effects, bouts of melodramatic acting, and loads and loads of flubs and mistakes that made it onto film (due to the fact that the show was more often than not taped live and editing wasn't an option). However despite the many drawbacks, Dark Shadows is charming, addicting, imaginative, romantic, and eerie. And no matter how much one likes or dislikes a particular episode, one simply MUST see the next episode...and the next...and the next...and so on.
In a nutshell, Dark Shadows, with all its faults (probably more than any other show that ever aired on television), is pleasing because of the suspense and intrigue, and the imagination that propells it; because of the continuing story and the characters involved (who are portrayed by some very talented actors); and because of the romantic, supernatural escapism that draws us in. Watching Dark Shadows is very much like watching a play on a stage; and if one views it that way (no pun intended) all the mistakes, flubs, etc. will simply not matter.

3 Stooges: Movie Maniacs (1936) Review

3 Stooges: Movie Maniacs (1936)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For those who want a bit more than a television commercial to understand why the Three Stooges are priceless, the trio of comedy shorts the boys made for Columbia collected on this videotape can help make the case:
"Movie Maniacs" is a short from 1936 that starts with the Stooges stowing away on a train bound for Hollywood. There are a couple of good routines involving making breakfast and ironing their clothes before the boys arrive at Carnation Pictures are mistaken for studio executives. This means that they can provide their collective 2 cents with regards to the love scene being filmed by a director (named Swinehardt). The result is that everybody quits and Curly has to play the female lead romanced by Larry, while Moe directs. Somehow this classic ends up with the boys being chased by a lion in a car, which makes perfect sense in the world of the Stooges.
"Dutiful But Dumb" is a 1941 effort with a movie connection in that the Stooges are photographers for "Whack" magazine, out to get a picture of movie star Percival De Pusyter and his new bride. This does not go well, which is why the boys end up in Vulgaria, where shooting photographs gets you shot by a firing squad. Fortunately Curly knows about a rule of international law regarding last smokes. The best bit in this one has Curly crawling inside a large radio to broadcast the news, but his encounter with the oyster in his oyster soup is almost as good. The bits have little to do with the plot, but that is par for the course with these two-reelers.
"Oily to Bed, Oily to Rise" is a 1939 short where the boys start off working on a farm for food. This one actually has a running gag in that every time Curly wishes for something, it comes to pass. This gets all mixed up with the fact that some crooks are buying land from poor farmers who do not know that their land sits on oil. The Stooges come to the rescue of a kindly window and her three daughters (April, May, and June), and the rescuing actually works out. Not a classic, but close.
Overall, this trio of Stooges comedies makes for one of the better video collections in this series. You have one classic and two above average efforts from the Moe-Larry-Curly period, and several great bits by Curly, which is always a plus.

The Beulah Show, Volume 1 (2007) Review

The Beulah Show, Volume 1 (2007)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
THE BEULAH SHOW (also known simply as BEULAH) is a light sitcom from television's first years best known for being the first program to star an African American actress. The syndicated series ran three seasons, 1950-1953. Based on the late 40's radio sitcom starring Oscar winner Hattie McDaniel of GONE WITH THE WIND fame, the television series' first two years starred Ethel Waters as Beulah, a big-hearted housekeeper for a young white family (presumably the producers chose Waters because she was a bigger star at the time than McDaniel). Miss Waters was reportedly unhappy with the mediocre scripts and left the show after the second season which led to an overhaul of the program and a completely new cast.
The wonderful Hattie was finally cast as the video Beulah but tragically she was only able to complete eight episodes, dying later that year of breast cancer. The role of Beulah was then taken over by Hattie's longtime contemporary in movies, Louise Beavers (the rest of the new cast remained). Reportedly there were a couple of final episodes that season (the series' last) in which Lillian Randolph played the role (possibly due to Beaver's signing to play a featured role on the network sitcom MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY).
The series, apparently now in public domain, has long been unseen except for a vhs tape or two issued by minor companies. At long last, a budget DVD version has been released of four episodes, two starring Hattie McDaniel and two with Louise Beavers.
BEULAH GOES GARDENING has Hattie has the put-upon maid who ends up having to do the gardening when Mr. Henderson, in a penny-pinching move, decides to no longer employ a gardener and have the family do it instead, only thing is the "family" always has something else to do and it only means more work for Beulah. In THE WALTZ, little Donny Henderson is floundering in dance class, so Hattie and her longtime beau Bill decide to give him lessons, only the boogie woogie they teach him isn't quite the style he is supposed to learn. THE NEW ARRIVAL has a baby carriage arriving at the Henderson home leading Louise Beavers to believe the Mrs. is expecting and the bogus secret spreads like wildfire. SECOND WEDDING has Louise convinced her employers' marriage is on the rocks after reading a magazine article on the warning signs for marriages in trouble.
Both actresses do quite well with the slender, unpolished material. I have always preferred Hattie McDaniel, one of the very best character actresses ever in film, over the quite talented Louise Beavers who is a gentler, less comic actress. It's touching and sad to see Hattie in her final role, not quite the spitfire of her classic movie performances but still a lovable endearing personality. Louise is equally good as Beulah and her two episodes actually are a little better written.
Print quality for these programs is no better than good minus to acceptable (the Beavers episodes appear to be copies of videos rather than film prints and are only fair) but this material is very rare and you are not likely to see better prints anytime soon (indeed only about seven episodes of the show are still known to be around but surely there are more somewhere since the program was rerun for several years and the 1950's aren't that long ago).
1940's "B" leads David Bruce and Jane Frazee play Beulah's employers, the Hendersons, child actor Stuffy Singer is their son Donny. Beulah's elusive beau is played by Ernest Whitman (who had a bit part in GONE WITH THE WIND as the black carpetbagger), her dizzy best friend Oriole is played by Ruby Dandridge (Dorothy's mom).
THE BEULAH SHOW is a trailblazer in that it's black and white supporting performers are on an equal status and share approximately the same amount of screen time. And it's wonderful to see both Hattie McDaniel and Louise Beavers front and center in a program given the starring billing they richly deserved.

This video is very much in the holiday spirit.Even though it has the 2nd Darrin, which most fans do not prefer,it is fun,and light hearted. The second episode shows us we are all sisters,(or brothers)no matter what color we are. This video should be in all Bewitched fan collections, they only made 4 Christmas episodes, and this one ,as well as the first volume,is worth owning.

Perry Mason - Season One, Vol. 1 (1957) Review

Perry Mason - Season One, Vol. 1 (1957)

First, to clear up the error in a prior review...this set will be captioned. The official announcement stated this.
For years PM has only been seen in butchered syndicated versions with 6 minutes or more missing from each episode. These DVDs will be mastered from the original elements and will be the complete 52 minute versions. PM was filmed, not videotaped, which will result in very high quality DVDs.
Although all 9 seasons were excellent, the first season is remarkable in that the cast found their stride immediately and delivered 39 noir-like episodes that are as suspenseful as any Hollywood movie. 19 of these episodes will be in the set with 20 to be included in Volume 2.
Paramount has an excellent record in fast tracking releases of their classic shows, hopefully PM will be as well.

Perry Mason (Raymond Burr) is an attorney who specializes in defending seemingly indefensible cases. With the aid of his secretary Della Street and investigator Paul Drake, he often finds that by digging deeply into the facts, startling facts can be revealed. Often relying on his outstanding courtroom skills, he often tricks or traps people into unwittingly admitting their guilt. The series began in 1957, running until 1974, and later revived in a series of TV movies. In over 270 episodes, Perry never lost a case!

Bewitched: Season One (1964) Review

Bewitched: Season One (1964)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
At a time when interracial marriage was still making many Americans anxious, this sitcom helped to diffuse that real-life tension through a suburban fantasy. This show thus focuses less on the supernatural and more on issues of family, community, and idenity.
Thirty six episodes make up this 1964-1965 season. A 1963-filmed pilot episode is included in this season for good measure.
Samantha (Elizabeth Montgomery) is a witch who fell in love with and then married the mortal Darrin Stephens (who, for the first couple of seasons, is played by Dick York). Darrin accepts her `heritage' only on the condition that she now refrain from using witchcraft and `settle down' to be a normal American middle-class housewife.
To the horror of her mother Endora (Agnes Moorehead), Samantha has agreed to the request. But, Endora ultimately worried over nothing. Samantha herself soon discovers that giving up witchcraft was an impossible promise. Conflict between her promise and an often-more complicated reality drive this series' storylines.
Tensions immediately flare in the first season when an old flame of Darrin's (Nancy Kovak) invites them to a dinner party. Because Shelia Sommers is so obnoxious, Samantha breaks her promise in order to avoid being shown up in front of her husband. Beginning with this episode, Darrin recognizes that he cannot control when Samantha does/does not use her magic, and can only make suggestions. Whether this advice is taken then rests entirely with Samantha.
In "Be it ever so mortgaged" we meet Gladys and Abner Kravitz (Alice Pearce and George Tobias) who are the Steven's next door neighbors. Ever the busybody, Mrs. Kravitz begins a series-long tirade about `something weird going on over there'. Less concerned, her husband is a largely-silent type.
"It shouldn't happen to a dog" introduces us to Darrin's boss Larry Tate (David White) and his wife Louise (at this point being played by Irene Vernon). It also previews the many problems Darrin will have working at the McMahon & Tate advertising company.
"The witches are out" finds Samantha protesting the negative pop culture images of witches traditionally associated with American Halloweens. With the help of her beloved Aunt Clara (Marion Lorne) Samantha convinces an advertising client of Darrin's that using a pretty witch for their candy sales would be a better strategy through changing that executive's appearance: If he did not like being an ugly witch, neither did they! Aunt Clara has the distinction of being Samantha's only female relative who genuinely appears to like Darrin
Samantha meets her in-laws, Phyllis (Mabel Albertson) and Frank Stephens (Robert F. Simon) during "Samantha meets the folks". Aunt Clara's unexpected return and helping out upsets Darrin who had wanted his parents to believe that Samantha did all the housework by herself. Because she had wanted to find some fault with this housework (regardless of who actually did it), Phyllis was honestly disappointed by how perfect everything looked. Darrin's mother is later relieved to learn that her daughter in law is not actually a good housekeeper, and Darrin then makes up with Aunt Clara.
Aunt Clara makes another great appearance in "There's no witch like an old witch". Aunt Clara is a great babysitter until she accidentally tells the kids that she is a witch. Because witches supposedly do not exist, she is barred from babysitting. Although a judge (who had every reason to doubt her statement of being a witch) is instead impressed with Aunt Clara, the Stephens decide to send her to Miami for a convenient get away vacation with her friends. This will provide time for people to forget what they were told in this episode.
Forty years later, these episodes hold up great. Some sitcoms which cannot age well obviously depend on extras in the DVD sets in order to gain market appeal with `today's audience'. Bewitched is one of the rare titles which has always remained watch-able and really does not need the special features included in this release.
Even the 'black and white' filming of this season is not annoying. Bewitched was head and shoulders above many other sitcoms of the era to begin with.
The price for this product is really affordable considering the production quality AND all of the DVD extras. Exclusive DVD featurettes include bloopers, a feature how the 'magic' was performed, and a theatrical trailer for the upcoming Bewitched movie with Nicole Kidman.
I am only saddened that Montgomery and both `Darrins' are no longer around to participate in the DVD release for this series.

Elizabeth Montgomery stars as Samantha Stephens, a pretty, typical American housewife who just happens to be a witch in this beloved comedy classic. Included in this magical DVD collection is the Emmy (r) Award-winning series' entire first season- 36 episodes that introduce one of the funniest ensemble casts in TV history. Dick York as Samantha's mortal husband Darrin, Agnes Moorehead as his witch-of- a-mother-in-law Endora. Alice Pearce as nosey neighbor Gladys Kravitz, George Tobias as her oblivious husband Abner and Marion Lorne as dotty Aunt Clara. Join them and a who's who of ‘60s pop icon guest stars- Adam West, Raquel Welch, Peggy Lipton and Arte Johnson- in this enchanting, charming, and hysterically funny look at the suburban lifestyles of the witch and famous.

The DVD is nothing less than priceless!! To see these programs again after 60 years is beyond words. I actually remember some of the segments. Many hours went into restoring the old kinescopes resulting in great pictures and sound. You don't have to have been raised in Chicago to enjoy this DVD. A true treasure of early television.
